Perfume and poetry

Perfume and poetry

I have a very talented friend who has written a poem inspired by my perfume Alba and another that captures Thamnic beautifully.  I love the way perfume can complement and be complemented by other art forms.

Perfume is such a subjective experience; so a poem that captures one person's singular thoughts is a beautiful thing.

Abundant woods melt into vast oceans
a vibrant bloom of summer.

Life.

So lovingly lived and embraced,
Unfurls.

Blossoming,
through heady days and glittering nights.

If you're in the mood for another poem about scent, this one had me ready to head to the perfume bench to start gathering materials...

The Scent of Summer
by Violet Dolui

Nor'wester winds
      on summer afternoons
  assail with childhood scents

soaking the fuming earth
      bestirring petrichor
  born of a thousand flowers

grandma's pickled raw mangoes
        steaming rice
fish frying in hot mustard oil

Darjeeling tea
      infused with cardamom
blooming sheuli, tuberoses

curled on bed
        with a book
            I watch the rain...

If you have a favourite poem you think I should add to my Scent Journal, let me know, I'd love to read it.
