My Tasmanian perfume ethos

Liminus is personal

Scent is a carrier of memory, mood, and meaning. That's why Liminus creates perfumes inspired by place, nature and quiet curiosity.

My name is Hilary, and I make natural perfumes by hand in tiny batches in Tasmania. I started Liminus after I experienced the potential for scent to connect you to place and time.

On a family holiday in France, I wore fragrance from a bottle of artisan perfume every day. On hikes, through village markets, into long evenings with golden light.  Back home in Tasmania, that scent became a bridge to memory each time I wore it. When the bottle ran out, I realised I wanted to give other people that possibility but for Tasmania...a connection to place through scent.

My approach

I compose and blend each perfume very slowly with intention. Every scent features Tasmanian botanical materials chosen for their character and connection to place. I love the power of scent to connect you to nature, to everyday beauty, to mood and memory.

How I work

I make each perfume by hand in tiny thoughtful batches. If possible, I source botanicals from local growers, foragers, and Tasmanian friends, sometimes I’m out collecting plants around Hobart myself. I also collaborate with women-owned and Australian producers where I can.

Packaging is minimal and refillable because beauty and sustainability aren't separate. A portion of each sale supports the work of the Tasmanian Land Conservancy — protecting the landscapes that inspire these scents.

A personal invitation

Thank you for coming here, and for caring about craft, place, and scent. I hope one of these very Tasmanian perfumes becomes a part of your story.
