Our Story

Liminus is a Tasmanian perfume studio creating natural fragrances that connect scent, people, place and memory.

The journey began with Hilary buying a bottle of artisan perfume, on a family holiday in France. Worn through golden evenings strolling cobbled village lanes, it became a powerful link between scent and experience. Back home in Tasmania, vivid memories remained long after the trip had ended.

When that precious bottle ran out, Hilary set out to recreate that kind of connection — but with Tasmania at its heart. Slowly, and with deep respect for nature, Liminus was born.

Each perfume is crafted by hand, using botanical materials sourced locally whenever possible. Every formula includes at least one Tasmanian ingredient — Boronia, Correa alba or Tasmanian Mountain Pepper.  Liminus perfumes are designed to evoke the feeling of a place, a season, or a story.

Liminus is grounded in slow, small-batch production and a deep care for the land. Our packaging is minimal, refillable, and thoughtful — and every perfume refill sold contributes $5 to the Tasmanian Land Conservancy.

We invite you to explore these scents as sensory companions — a quiet ritual, a memory made tactile, or simply a beautiful way to connect with nature.

Our Name
Liminus is derived from the latin "limin" meaning threshold. Liminal describes in-between spaces and places; sensory thresholds; boundaries in nature, doorways, liminal states of consciousness and life transitions.
