Perfume for good.
I believe in crafting luxurious scents that contribute positively to the environment and community. This ethos was recognised in the 2024 Clean and Conscious awards with the listing of my signature scent, Alba, as a finalist in the natural perfume category. I've listed some of my sustainability steps below:
- I choose to be fully transparent in my labelling practices so customers can see exactly what is in their perfume.
- Liminus packaging is designed with the environment in mind. Our outer box uses FSC® certified (FSC® C006462), CO2 neutral, Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver card stock. The atomiser chosen for Alba is reusable and refillable aluminium, with the intention that it will not be a single use product. Stickers are printed on eco-vinyl (manufactured with PET rather than PVC. PVC takes hundreds of years to decompose where as PET takes around 5-10. It also doesn't release the same chemicals as PVC into the environment) the supplier of this vinyl also has a program to recycle end caps, traditionally a major element of packaging waste).
- I worked closely with my designer and printer to save packaging off-cuts for repurposing. These have since been die cut into note cards, saving a valuable resource that may otherwise have gone to waste.
- I source biodegradable nitrile gloves and I manage workflows to limit the use of single use plastics in my perfumery.
- My small-batch production methods allow to me to minimise waste. I tailor the size of each batch to ensure that the precious botanicals I use (which have very high embodied energy) are used with respect for the impacts of the whole supply chain.
- I offer perfume refills in a reusable glass bottle, encouraging the enjoyment of perfume without the need for complex packaging.
- Wherever possible, I choose carbon neutral delivery providers and reuse packaging material from my suppliers to wrap orders.
- Liminus uses 100 per cent renewable energy.
- For every perfume refill sold, Liminus donates $5 to the Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC). The TLC is a not-for-profit, apolitical, science and community-based organisation that raises funds from the public to protect irreplaceable sites and rare ecosystems by buying and managing private land in Tasmania.
As a new brand I am constantly looking for ways to embrace sustainable practices and source materials with ethical, transparent and preferably local supply chains. I choose to feature Tasmanian grown and sourced products and I harvest and forage small amounts of native and locally grown materials to tincture for my perfumes. Every Liminus perfume features Tasmanian ingredients.
