Correa alba

Alba

Mothers, sisters, daughters, colleagues and friends - I am lucky enough to have many resilient women in my life.

More often than not, what you see on the surface doesn't reveal their full strength of character.  These women are beautiful, wise, strong and caring and have struggles you may never even know...

Alba is for them.

I wanted to create a modern, complex floral scent incorporating Correa alba as a nod to hidden beauty and resilience.  Correa alba grows in windswept coastal areas, it tolerates harsh, salty conditions and flourishes.  In winter, it has a small delicate lemon scented flower. Easily overlooked, this tenacious plant is always beautiful.

Tasmanian boronia adds sweetness and complexity, Australian Sandalwood is an unshakable core.  Alba loves to travel and enjoy life.

Flex with the wind, celebrate the journey.

Update:

Since I originally published this post I have been delighted to learn more about the name Alba - it's lovely word with beautiful connotations … 🦋

In Italian and Spanish it means dawn.

In Gaelic Alba is the name for Scotland.  The Kingdom of Alba existed in Scotland between the deaths of Donald II in 900 and of Alexander III in 1286.

For the plant Correa alba, "alba" is derived from the latin "albus" meaning white, clear, pale or bright.
